I've been using these for the last 8 years, and the smaller 500ml version. Some of my originals are still in use, I imported the first ones from Germany when the Euro was worth 0.56 £GBP. They're a lot more available here in the UK now, and also available on AliExpress. I love them, it's so easy to just top up the water every day. They do need regular removal for cleaning, and you need to watch out for loose fluff accumulating round the nipple especially in breeding cages. But easy enough to clean, and they come apart. The nipple section can also be replaced if you can find somewhere that stocks them. You may also need to soak the nipple section in vinegar occasionally as limescale can build up inside if you live in a hard water area, making them prone to leak.

I've found the black part on alibaba, but no one ever says who they used, just "get an interpreter, use a gift card, check details." 🙄 Ugh, just name the seller!
Haven't checked aliexpress.
Amazon sold a different version of that black part, but it leaked immediately from the O ring. 🤦🏽‍♀️

First timer, Fennel, had her kits! 9 of them and the reddish ones look...tort? Sire Gold.
Was bred to Gold, for last week nest, but then I bred her later again to Gold.
And look, she's nice!

Getting this doe. Missed out on another. Going to cull out as many rex as I don't need, but they're raising kits, lol, so still have to wait...But I'll write the list down and post it out there.

Got new pics of the Rex boys for a breeder I'm talking to.

8.09#. Goliath. 8.5mo.
Dad was 12#, unknown how heavy the mom. Kinda expected him to be larger, especially since he's 8mo now.

I haven't looked, but I will and post here if I find any. I may not need to order though as a couple of small livestock supplies places here stock them.

Here in the UK where we have hutches rather than wire cages, the only alternative to these box drinkers is bottles. It's a pain taking them off and refilling every day especially if you have 20 or more hutches. And cleaning them all is a major operation. I do still have some bottles but don't use them often, mainly just as an extra source for a large litter or for medication. Automatic watering systems aren't really used here except in rabbitries where the hutch blocks are all the same and have a section on the front where the drinker can be fixed that isn't part of the door. And enough roofspace in the building for a header tank. And maybe a water supply. But I have seen it done once or twice.

Edit: found these on AliExpress. It may be different on your US site but worth a look. These appear to be the type that are used on the box drinkers.

I have one of these, from a local store a few years ago, expensive! But found them online at only $6 each, cheaper than Amazon. Hoping it works just as good as the one I bought years ago. If so, I'll buy more so all have one and use a soda bottle to add more water to each reservoir.

I have 6 of these. I did have an issue with one, however, it was simply something stuck in the "nipple ball " and after being rinsed was fine. I bought mine in a 6 pack. Around $6 each.

Recently I bough a bunch of the screw on - like the orange bowls except made of metal and oval shaped from rent a coop. The first was fine until I unscrewed it to change position and then it started leaking - but plumber's tape will fix that.

New Rex to replace...hmm...
36 adults if no parent sells but replacement kept. Wtf. 😭
Moved 6 to cull cage.
Jasper is listed, giving a bit more time before culling.
Ella should be sold/culled. Bred to Rivian though, listed. If not sold in time, will keep until litter is weaned, then culled.
Jessi needs to sell/cull after weaning her litter.
Hopefully, Yynx has a kit to replace her. Then be sold/culled.
Sugar is so sweet, I don't want to sell/cull until I get a really good replacement.
Freckles' doe & Rusty's doe are near breeding age. So, we'll see if anything worth keeping is born, if not, will sell/cull out.
Need to decide if the reg fur Ella doe is staying. The rex furred sister is staying. Or should Ella be kept and both of her does sold/culled? I guess since she's bred to Rivian, probably best to keep the rex furred one.
Aqua doe is an ahole, so put in the cull cage. Aqua buck was put in his own cage. But Fennel had torts, so, might keep one of hers over this buck in the end.
Need to decide which of the 2 Darkie kits & 2 14 kits I'll keep or sell/cull all 4.
Decided to sell/cull out the Vickie line, just too slow.
So, that'll leave it at....10 to 15 culled? That only gets me to 21, which is where I'm supposed to be already. Wanted to go even further under that number. 🤦🏽‍♀️😭

Waterers arrived. They were disassembled for shipment. Thought they were broken when I picked up the box, lol. Got them set up and wire blocking the black plastic. Now we wait n see.
Baymax & Goliath demonstrating how to use them. A bit of drips lost, but no gushing amounts of water lost!
They'll have to be on the sides of stackers, as they'll be in the way of pans otherwise. And the hooks they come with are unusable.

Did some musical cages.

Lynx's doe finally moved out of mom's cage.
20240518_144234.jpg

Rivian moved to a stacker. He bounces around too much to stsy in the hanging cage.
Aqua buck moved above him.
20240518_144246.jpg
Baymax got his own big cage. Wish someone wanted him as a pet, he's super friendly.
20240518_144307.jpg

Quincy moved into a 2level cage.
20240518_144310.jpg

Freckles & Rusty does moved into the hanging cage.
20240518_144315.jpg

Widy n kits moved outside to the growout pen. Unity's kits will move in once weaned and Widy will move back to a single cage then.

Red, already gone.
Yellow, need to go.
Teal, breeder.
Purple, up n coming.

38...oh no. I messed up my math again??
Working on a full map of relation.

I have those and love them.

Since kits can't reach it and can't be used on stackers unless there's a gap between them, I guess I'll have to buy or make some of those weird bowls that go through the wall.

🤬
Posing is a huge wtf!
One hour apart, breeder posed before I accepted her. It was definitely the same rabbit....but wtf is this blasphemy??! 😭

At least she's super mellow. 5.79#.

6 went byebye. Tipsy went out with them.
Kept the Vickie doe, put her in with Tipsy's 2 kits.

$367 in the red. 4 in dog food. Bought a bun at 50. Sold buns at 60. Then there were 7 bags of poo for the garden, but redoing their worth to 3 each vs 5. And 40 in cup refund.

Currently $292 in the red.

I use these too and really like them, thanks for the limescale tip! I also replace the washers occasionally as they can stretch and leak over time
